You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers: A new blog series.
For the next post in our Q&A blog series, we will be taking a question asked by several Registrants about the COVID-19 vaccine.
Does the College have information regarding the government’s COVID-19 vaccination program and if/when vaccines will be available to NDs?
Here is some general information that the College has received about the Ontario government’s COVID-19 vaccination program.
The initial roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines in Ontario is targeting the highest risk populations: those who are at greater risk of illness, death and severe outcomes due to COVID-19 infection. Currently that focuses on residents, staff and caregivers in congregate care settings caring for seniors, as well as some health care workers in hospitals.
As Ontario receives more vaccines, the program will further expand to include additional groups of Phase 1 priority populations, such as health care workers. The Ministry of Health has issued a guidance document on prioritization of health care workers for the COVID-19 vaccine
as a planning tool to help public health units and their health system partners. The guidance document outlines the recommended approach and key considerations for prioritizing health care workers.
Local public health units, in collaboration with the Government of Ontario, will in the coming weeks and months provide more information to the priority populations and the public on how to access vaccines when their turn comes.

The College will provide any information about the specific details regarding the COVID-19 vaccination for naturopaths as it becomes available.
