Standards of Practice Consultation 2024

The College’s standards of practice describe the expected level of performance for a particular element of practice to which all naturopathic doctors must adhere to. These standards ensure patient quality and safety is provided when NDs perform these professional services to the public. Several of the College’s standards of practice, developed between 2012 and 2015, required review and potential amendments to align with current legislation and evolving healthcare needs and practices.

The Standards Committee of the College was seeking feedback, through consultation, on proposed amendments to 19 of these standards, which took into consideration the following factors and information:

  • Did this represent the actual way the profession practiced this procedure?
  • Was anything confusing or outdated?
  • Was anything missing?
  • Was anything necessary or unnecessary?
  • What information would help registrants meet the minimum expectations?

To support the consultation, the College conducted an In Conversation With session to outline key elements and the rationale for the proposed changes.
