Following a consultation from late 2023 to early 2024, the College of Naturopaths of Ontario plans to collect data from registrants on the Standard of Practice for Therapeutic Prescribing. This data collection is a key component of the College’s new Risk-based Regulation (RbR) Program, which aims to proactively assess and address risks to patient safety before harm occurs, as opposed to the traditional reactive regulatory approach triggered by complaints or investigations.

Beginning in January 2025, registrants of the College will be required to collect and report data about the number of drugs they prescribe, dispense, compound and sell as well as the number of substances they administer by inhalation and injection. This data must be reported to the College in 2026.

The College has developed a process to provide support to registrants with the data collection process when it commences. In addition, an In Conversation With (ICW) session is being held in support of this initiative. It will be an opportunity for the participants to pose questions directly to members of the College’s senior leadership team.
