Ontario Clinical Sciences Exam

Applicants for registration to practise naturopathy in Ontario after April 1, 2019, who are not transferring their ND registration from another regulated Canadian jurisdiction, will be required to successfully complete the College's Ontario Clinical Sciences Exam. This exam tests a candidate’s knowledge of necessary naturopathic competencies for the treatment of patients.

This exam replaced the NPLEX II exam as of April 1, 2019.

The Ontario Clinical Sciences Exam is a mix of case-based and stand-alone questions, which test for clinical readiness and emphasize a candidate’s ability to apply their knowledge and critical thinking. The April 2020 version of the examination blueprint, including the competencies and weighting to be tested in each content area is available below.

An updated study reference guide which provides information on testable content and sample questions and an updated handbook outlining the procedural components of this exam (including pre- and post-exam processes such as requesting an accommodation and information about scoring) will be available June 1, 2020.

Exam Fees

The fees for the new ETP exams are as follow (not including applicable taxes). They are the full fees to sit the exams as the College does not charge application fees.
•           Clinical Sciences Exam - $850
•           Biomedical Sciences Exam - $450

The fees are similar to, but less than, those for the NPLEX. They reflect costs to deliver and maintain the exams, including renewing and replacing questions from the exam question pool in order to maintain the exams’ integrity.
