August REP Session Highlights: The Importance of Effective Record Keeping

Posted On: September 11, 2024

The August 12th session of the College of Naturopaths of Ontario’s Regulatory Education Program (REP), titled Changing Perspectives on Record Keeping, was a noteworthy and well-attended event with 315 registrations.

Presented by Dr. Kim Bretz, ND, former Council Chair, and Natalia Vasilyeva, Manager, Professional Conduct at the College, the session emphasized the critical importance of record maintenance in ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.

It covered various aspects of record keeping, including appointment logs, financial records, and the distinctions between electronic and manual systems. It also connected these practices with broader regulatory topics discussed in previous REP sessions, such as sexual abuse, telepractice, consent, and mandatory reporting.

Feedback from participants highlighted a reinforced understanding of the essential role of thorough record keeping.

For those who were unable to attend, a recording of the session is available on our website and can be viewed at your convenience.  All our REP recordings are eligible for Continuing Education Credits (CECs). We encourage you to stay informed and participate in these educational opportunities!
