About the College of Naturopaths of Ontario

In Ontario, naturopathic doctors have joined a community of nearly 300,000 professionals who fall under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA).  Just like doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and some 20 other health care providers, naturopathic doctors must follow the similar strict regulations, policies and standards.

The College of Naturopaths of Ontario is responsible for developing the regulations, policies, by-laws and necessary business operations to govern the profession.  The College now:
  • sets requirements for entering the profession;
  • establishes standards for practicing;
  • administers quality assurance programs; and
  • holds its members accountable for their conduct and practice.
The College of Naturopaths of Ontario meets the statutory obligations under the RHPA and the Naturopathy Act, 2007, to regulate the profession in the public interest.
