Changing Class of Registration

Members can change their class of registration at any time during the membership year; however, the time that it will take for the College to process a request to change class will range from 10 business days up to 10-12 weeks depending on the type of class change request.

Types of Class Changes


There are three types of class changes scenarios that members may be in. These are:

- General Class to Inactive Class
- Inactive Class to General Class (Under 2 years)
- Inactive Class to General Class (2 years and over).

General Class to Inactive Class


Members in the General class who wish to change to the Inactive class of registration pay a fee of $100 (plus HST).  Class changes in these circumstances can be processed relatively quickly by the College and generally take up to 10 business days.  The process can be initiated by downloading and completing the following Change of Class form.

Inactive Class to General Class (Under 2 years)


Members who have been in the Inactive class of registration for less than two years and wish to change to the General class pay a fee of $100 (plus HST).  Class changes in these circumstances can also be processed relatively quickly by the College and also generally take up to 10 business days.  The process for this type of class change can be initiated by downloading and completing the following Change of Class form.

Inactive Class to General Class (2 years or more)

Members who have been in the Inactive class of registration for two years or more and wish to change to the General class pay a fee of $275 (plus HST).  In these circumstances, the Registration Regulation requires that the Registration Committee review the application to change class.  As a result, this process may take 10-12 weeks to complete, depending on the information provided and the meeting schedule of the Registration Committee.  The process for this type of class change can be initiated by downloading the following form.

Changing Class during Registration Renewal Period


During the registration renewal period, changes of class must be completed before renewing your registration in the new class.  As a result, you must first submit the Change of Class of Registration form and, only after being notified by the College that your request has been completed, can you proceed to renew your registration (pay your fees and complete the Information Return) for the new class.  Please allow yourself sufficient time to complete this process.
