Ontario Clinical Sciences Exam


Applicants for registration to practise naturopathy in Ontario who are not transferring their ND registration from another regulated Canadian jurisdiction, must successfully complete the College's Ontario Clinical Sciences Exam. This exam tests a candidate’s knowledge of necessary naturopathic competencies for the treatment of patients. 

This exam replaced the NPLEX II exam on April 1, 2019. 

The Ontario Clinical Sciences Exam is a mix of case-based and stand-alone questions, which test for clinical readiness and emphasise a candidate’s ability to apply their knowledge and critical thinking. The April 2020 version of the examination blueprint is available below. It includes the competencies and weighting to be tested in each content area.

An updated study reference guide which provides information on testable content and sample questions, and an updated handbook outlining the procedural components of this exam (including pre- and post-exam processes such as requesting an accommodation and information about scoring) can be found below.

Exam fees

Initial and Retake Exam Fee                                              $850 + HST

Administrative Fee for Deferrals                                         $50 + HST

Examination Appeal Fee, Each Appeal                              $75 + HST


Upcoming Exams


IMPORTANT: Due to COVID-19, the February 11, 2021 session is being conducted via an online proctoring platform. Candidates wishing to sit this session will be required to review and sign a Candidate Agreement, acknowledging their understanding of the rules and requirements of the online exam, as outlined in the On-line Ontario Clinical Sciences Exam Guide.

 Registration closes as of December 10, 2020 at 5 p.m. EST. 

Yardstick will directly email candidates with detailed booking instructions by January 14, 2021. Exam booking with Yardstick must be completed between Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 9 am EST to Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11:59 pm EST.
