Jurisprudence Course/Exam

To register as a naturopath in Ontario, you must complete the Jurisprudence Course/Examination no more than two years before applying to the College. All Registrants of the College are also able to complete this course/exam if they choose. In some cases, Registrants may be required to complete the course/exam when directed to do so by the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee or by a Panel of the Discipline Committee.

This online, open-book exam can be completed at your own pace once you have paid the examination fee and once you have reviewed, in detail, the course material contained in the College’s Jurisprudence Handbook.

Information and Fees

There is a fee of $75.00 (+ HST) for each exam attempt.

You may retake the exam as many times as you wish to obtain a passing grade.

Please do not attempt the exam until you are within two years of your application for final registration as a naturopath.

Requests for testing accommodations are considered on an individual basis in accordance with the College’s Examinations Policy.

A French version of the exam is also available upon request.

How to Take the Examination

Step 1: Review the Jurisprudence Handbook.

Step 2: Access the Ontario Jurisprudence Examination.

Log into your College user account. From your home screen, under the ‘My Exams’ heading, locate the Jurisprudence Exam and select the green plus sign. You will then be taken through the steps to pay for the exam online using your credit card. If you prefer to make payment by cheque or money order, it must be made payable to “The College of Naturopaths of Ontario”. The College must receive payment in order for you to gain access to the exam. A $35 nonsufficient funds (NSF) fee will be charged for any returned or refused payment due to insufficient funds
